What we are:
We are a community-run program, part of the Save Wildlife Uganda program, that supports community empowerment and conservation. The Community Centre, which is adjacent to Simba Cafe, has a women group that makes beautiful handicrafts, which are for sale in the giftshop. It also has clean and modern toilets to give extra comfort after the long drives on Ugandan roads. The women also operate a vegetable garden at the Community Centre, to provide fresh vegetables to prepare dishes at Simba Cafe.
What we have to offer:
We offer a variety of snacks, meals and drinks.
Why the name “Simba Cafe”?
Simba is the Swahili word for lion (and made famous by the beloved lead character in the movie Lion King). Simba Cafe is part of the programs of Save Wildlife Uganda, which includes community programs to promote lion conservation. By visiting our Simba Cafe, you support conservation of lion and other wildlife.
We look forward to welcome you and your friends!
How you can help us:
We are still in the process of paying off a loan to build and furnish Simba Cafe. You can make a donation on-site, or you can also make an online donation via the USA-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, so your donation is tax-deductible in the USA. Click here to go to the donation page to support Simba Cafe.
Construction started in March 2024! Thanks to everyone’s commitment, the work has progressed very well. Enjoy the pictures below that highlight the construction and other preparations, such as the vegetable garden. Click on individual pictures to see an enlarged version.
